Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about joining and building the movement.
What is DYM3?
DYM3 is a member-built political movement for the Maldives. It is a transparent platform where verified citizens can vote, propose policies, help write laws, and shape the movement's charter. We are preparing to register as a political party and field candidates in elections.
How is DYM3 different from other parties?
Most parties are built around a leader. DYM3 is built around a system. Our charter, law book, and public treasury exist before any leader and outlast them all. Leaders emerge from the movement through contribution and activism, and they remain bound by the rules and laws members create.
When will DYM3 become a registered party?
We can register as a party when 3,000 active members are ready to join exclusively. This threshold shows the Elections Commission that we have real grassroots support. Until then, we keep organizing, proposing, and growing.
What does it mean to join exclusively?
It means you intend to leave any other party before DYM3 registers as a political party. This public pledge is one of the numbers that unlocks our ability to field candidates in elections.
Who can join?
Any Maldivian citizen who wants to help build a transparent, member-run political movement. You create an account and provide your phone and either a national ID or your name and island so we can confirm each person joins only once. This protects one person, one vote.
What are the movement's core values?
Empowered participation, merit-based influence, citizen-led proposals, dynamic governance, absolute transparency, and unity and resilience. You can read more about them on the charter page.
What is merit?
Merit reflects your participation in the movement — voting, passing proposals, attending events, and recruiting verified members. It is transparent and opens the door to internal roles and future candidacy. It cannot be bought, and it loses weight over time if you stop participating.
Can I propose a policy or law?
Yes. Any verified member can submit ordinary proposals, charter amendments, or suggested amendments to Maldivian statutes. Proposals are debated and voted on by the membership.
Is my individual vote public?
No. How you vote is private. Aggregate results are public so everyone can see the outcome, but your personal ballot is not shared.
Where does the money go?
Every confirmed gift and approved spend is listed in the public treasury. Donations count as participation, but they cannot make someone a candidate or give them a heavier vote.
How do leaders emerge in DYM3?
Leaders emerge through contribution, activism, and skill. Internal roles are open to members whose Merit Score meets the role's qualifying threshold, and public candidacies open once the movement is registered. Candidates accept the member-written platform and remain bound by it.
Is this legal?
DYM3 is not yet a registered party. It operates as a membership platform preparing to register lawfully with the Elections Commission. Everything — rules, votes, money, and membership counts — is public and auditable.
Won't a digital platform exclude older or offline citizens?
v1 is digital-first: you sign up with a username and password and are verified by admin. We also hold in-person meetups and rallies where members can check in. SMS voting and offline community hubs are on the roadmap, not live features yet.
What stops people from gaming the system?
Several mechanisms: one live proposal per member, a daily cap on new activity and networking merit, a cap on donation merit, manual verification to prevent duplicate accounts, and a small proposal stake. Admin cannot edit merit or delete votes.
Why should I trust the platform?
The rules, aggregate votes, public ledger, and membership counters are open. Admin actions are written to an audit log. The four core guarantees — one person one vote, donation merit cannot open candidacy, influence decays from the day earned, and a compliance vote cannot strip membership — are enforced in code.
Can money buy influence in DYM3?
No. Donations are public and capped in merit effect. Donation merit alone cannot make someone a candidate, and every verified member has exactly one vote.
What if a future DYM3 leader goes rogue?
Once the party is registered, elected candidates accept the member-written platform. Any active member can open a compliance vote if a candidate will not champion a passed law draft. If the vote passes, the nomination for that cycle is reconsidered — membership stays.
